A contemporary rooftop concept design for one of the leading department stores in The Netherlands. In particular, the project has a unique opportunity due to its central location and 360° visibility from all around the city.
The rooftop extension concept: a golden restaurant as a statement to lure visitors into the city and shop – the concept of overlapping ‘tunnels’ provides panoramic city views. Overhanging boxes create an intriguing architectural feature when seen from street level, drawing the curious eye to glance up. The golden skin which glistens with reflective sun-rays acts as an eye-catcher. The shop becomes a key symbol of the city which is also available to be entered in the evening to admire the illustrious city by night.
